François Mouillot is Assistant Professor in the Department of Humanities & Creative Writing at the Hong Kong Baptist University. He holds a PhD in Communication Studies from McGill University and his research interests include popular music, cultural scenes, digital platforms and health humanities in global minority urban contexts. He has extensive experience conducting ethnographic research in Hong Kong S.A.R., the province of Québec in Canada, and the Basque region. He has co-edited the book Fractured Scenes Underground Music-Making in Hong Kong and East Asia (Palgrave MacMillan, 2021), and his scholarly articles are published in the journals Popular Communication, Perfect Beat, Organised Sound, Cinéma & Cie., and Critical Studies in Improvisation/Études Critiques en Improvisation, among others.
